Description: It is a hidden role board game in which everyone plays against everyone and only one can remain.

How to play:

Mascarade

Description: it is an easy board game to understand. In terms of characters, it is very similar to the well-known Citadels . However, the objective of this game and the strategy are totally different.

Play: At the beginning of the game, each player receives 6 gold coins, the objective being to reach 13 gold coins (or 10 if we have a certain character). Then the roles are dealt: each player has a character card that everyone can see and two more are placed on the table.

During the first turn, the masquerade dance begins: each player exchanges his card with that of another player or with one of the cards at the table, face down. The key is that the exchange does not have to take place, since the change takes place under the table, without anyone (or the player themself) seeing it. So I may have taken a player’s card, pretended to exchange it for mine and returned the one I already had. So no one can really be sure which character they have from turn 2 onwards, when there will be plenty of bluffs.

From this second turn, players may perform one of the following 3 actions in their turn:

• Exchange their card, as in the first turn.

Description: Dixit is a party board game in which players will have a hand of cards with striking illustrations. In each turn a player will act as a storyteller, saying a phrase related to one of their cards. The rest of the players will place a card from their own hand that best fits the phrase told by the storyteller. The objective is that at least one player succeeds and one player fails. Depending on the votes of the rest of the players, a series of points will be awarded.

Jungle Speed

Description : All cards are dealt upside down. Each at a time, players draw a card and when two cards of identical drawings (colour does not count) coincide on the table, the two players who have drawn them must take the totem in the centre as soon as possible. Description: You have 10 cards to play, wisely, in one of the four rows. But be careful, because in each row only five cards are allowed. So if you place the six card on a row, you will have to collect the five cards from that row, with all their bull heads (negative points).

It is a very simple and entertaining game, it is easy to explain and although the recommended age is 8 years old, at Christmas we play from the oldest to the youngest 5 and 6 years old.

Description: this is the board game par excellence when it comes to conquering the world. It’s one of the first board games everyone ever has. It offers fun and long games, with an important point of strategy but without forgetting the luck, since the battles are decided throwing the dice.

The downside to this game is that it creates confrontation between friends, because sometimes they will confront you saying: “But why are you attacking me?” If so, you can attack the one with less troops (there are always small fights). Another thing that for me is a hiccup and may not be for most is that I personally love strategy games where I have very calculated the moves I will make and what possible moves of my teammates could truncate my victory.

But in this game, although it has a certain degree of strategy, eventually luck has a lot of influence when it comes to winning or losing a war. Description: Hive is a board game for two players which is played without a board and where each player has an army of chips of different bugs (11 for each player). Each player will have a queen bee of his own color (white or black).

The objective of the game is to completely surround the opponent’s queen with your pieces or those of the opponent. To do this, each player will use his 5 types of chips with the particularity that each has a different movement.

Basically it is an easy “chess” to learn, in this game luck has no influence whatsoever.

Rhino Hero

Rhino Hero is a board game specially designed to develop skills and coordination of movements. It consists of forming a tower with the cards, first placing the walls and then a card on top of them.

In Rhino Hero, a hand of cards is dealt to each player at the start of the game. In turn order, players will do the following actions:

• Place the building walls in the form left by the previous player’s card.
• Play a card, which will be placed on these walls.
• The effect of the card we have played comes into play.

The effects are the following:

• Change of direction: You need to play now in the opposite direction.
• Take a breather The next player has to take a rest and lose a turn.
• Additional card: The next player has to draw a new roof card from the pile.
• Double roof: the player places a second roof card on the building.
• Super Rhino: the next player must take the Super Rhino figure from the card on which it is standing and place it on this last card.

Opinion

What makes this board game entertaining, is how fast turns happen and even if it is not your turn you are in tension watching your daddy trying to place his cards before it is your turn. If I had to say a drawback, it’s that I’d like that it had more cards to make bigger towers although for that I suppose there’s already the adult version Super Rhino Hero.
